Harley Village Partnership

What is the Harley Village Partnership?
HVP is a committee made up of representatives of all societies and clubs within Harley, along with village resident representatives
What is the aim of HVP?
The main aim is to get Harley a new Village Hall/Community Centre and to upgrade the existing sports and changing facilities, and possibly the play area.
Harley until recently had a community centre - The "Miners Welfare" which stood until 1984, on land between the allotments and the Horse Shoe Public House. It was then demolished and houses were built on the land- now View Tree Close. Apparently a new Village facility was promised at the time, which for various reasons has failed to materialise.
About 2 years ago Ian Lomas, one of our Parish Councillors, with others, began to revive the scheme. There is now a committee and despite difficulties and scepticism HVP has now reached the stage of a feasibility study. This has been funded from lottery money.
Following a very successful survey in the form of a questionnaire delivered to every house in the Harley area with over 60% response, a HVP Community planning day was held on Saturday 21st September 2002. Results of this can be found here.
